Michelle Borzick Fry is Fired…

The news isn’t main stream yet but…

Michelle Borzick Fry was let go from her job as Pottstown Zoning Work Leader, after a 9 week paid hiatus.  It’s the least that could be expected.

Still, it’s a puzzle why the D.A. went to such lavish lengths to conduct a Grand Jury Investigation that netted nothing.

If the investigation’s intent was to discover wrong doing in the codes department, how did this one pass them by?   Taxpayers might have anticipated a full and thorough investigation, they might have expected an indictment – at least – against Michelle, maybe others.white-collar-crime

Whose best interests have been served by the narrow scope of this investigation?  Frank’s atonement, in the end, wasn’t worth the expense and suspense of a Grand Jury Investigation and Michelle goes out without a whimper.

So, what was the end result of this charade?   Does it send a loud and clear message to other public employees who tread just slightly south of the straight and narrow?  Not to worry… at most, they only stand to lose their jobs, if that.

Aside from her indiscretion in accepting a check from a developer, questions abound about Michelle’s use of paper, printer ink, and borough time, on the clock, while preparing for and marketing the Funky Santa 5k last December.  Unable to pull up the article in the Mercury archives for this post, suffice it to say that many residents recall a comment in the newspaper about a sum of money being donated to Pottstown Parks and Recreation when the money was tabulated after the race.

There seems to be no record of a donation.  Nobody quite knows where it would have gone or even if a donation was made from the $6,860.00 proceeds that were generated from the Funky Santa 5k in December, last year.  Was Michelle required to cover the costs of supplies and time or were these activities another little “perk” of the job when all was said and done?

All in all it’s a safe enough bet that the taxpayers footed some of the expenses for this race and, have done so in the past too.   But, when management says that reimbursing taxpayers isn’t necessary  -  how can you fault employees who take advantage?

Michelle and her boyfriend/partner in the Funky Santa 5k took a lovely ski trip to Vail, Colorado after the first of the year and a terrific time was had by all…

Except you, P.town taxpayers.  NO PRICEY SKI TRIP FOR YOU.
